One afternoon I embarked on a journey to visit some Christians in northern Yunnan.  I had heard from a friend that the people there could tell me of some miracles that had occured.  She also gave me a phone number with which I could reach them.  That evening I didn't meet with them but in the morning I called the number and headed out by taxi to pay the folks a visit.  The directions I had written down were inadequate so the taxi driver had to call the number and straighten things out.  Soon we were driving through a bumpy road and pulled up to a small store where a man with a grand smile was awaiting my arrival.  As he walked me to his house children tagged along seemingly interested in the foreigner who was paying their village a visit.

When I first walked in his house, I saw on the back wall of the family room, the ten commandments in Chinese on the left, the Lord's prayer in Chinese on the right and some pictures in the center.  There were even more pictures on the left and right walls of the room.  His wife wasted no time in cooking me some noodles with eggs that were delicious.  We managed to communicate despite my elementary Chinese education and his local accent.  Then he offered to take me to his church and so after lunch away we went.

At the first church we visited, there were a couple people present.  I inquired if anyone knew of any miracles that were done by God and quickly was told that there were many people there who knew of miracles.  One man pointed out another guy in the room who had been healed.  They didn't seem to want to write the story in Chinese but rather insisted that it be told me and that I understand it.  So, we went through a process of communicating with elementary Chinese, hand motions, and even an illustration.  (next page)
