One day I visited a man who works closely with the Chinese church and he retold me four miraculous stories that have occured mostly in or around Yunnan. The stories are as follows:
New Christians Given Water For Baptism
Happened about ten years ago: There was a group of I think it was the Miao and they were receiving short wave radio messages of the Word of God in their village. Some of them started getting saved and many of them came out of Buddhism. They began to get people to come to their home to listen to the short wave radio. They heard a sermon on baptism, but their area didn't have a whole lot of water. So, they dug holes in the ground. Just simple faith; they wanted to be baptized. Then they prayed for rain and it rained and filled up those holes. Then they baptized the people that were going to the fellowship in those holes.
Many Healings
Just over the eastern border of Yunnan about three years ago: Two Chinese church workers went to the Shui people. When they preached stories, the Shui liked to hear the good stories but no one wanted to get saved. Then one of the Shui fathers came over to them and asked if Jesus could heal the gross boils from off his daughter's face. If Jesus could, then he would believe in their Jesus forever. So, they went in and prayed for the boils to go away. They didn't go away just then, but the next morning when she woke up, there was not one trace of a boil on her face. Then another fellow asked, "Can your Jesus heal my son of dysentery?" They had spent 100 RMB in the hospital and no medicine was healing him. He was a totally desperate father. So the guys laid hands on him and that night the boy was eating soup. Then the next day he was eating normal, everything was normal. He had been healed! Then of course his dad became a Christian. After this they prayed for sick people for ten days straight. People that heard about this came out of the mountains. Two lame women even got up and walked. Now there is a church there and the people are hungry for God. They're having Bible training and the church is being more established.
Glowing Cross
Old missionary story: There was a church in a village near some Lisu people and the government wasn't happy because people were coming there. One day a wooden cross in front of the church started having a glow coming out of it, so many more people started coming to the church. The government got upset because of this and thought that it was a fraud. So, the government decided that one evening during a church service, they would knock out the electricity. When the service started, they knocked off the electricity but the cross kept on glowing. Then even more people got saved. The cross kept glowing for years afterwards.
Farmer's Crops Are Protected
Relatively recently in Guangxi amongst the Dong people: First two Dong people came out for Christian training. They were told no drinking & no smoking but three days into the training, they went out and both lit up a cigarette and got violently sick. Then they never smoked another cigarette again. When they returned home, their urge to drink and smoke had completely disappeared. Everyone was amazed at their new behavior. Their wives couldn't believe it and their whole households became Christians. Then they started a church in their home. Afterwards they noticed that every year from the time that they had been saved, they had an increase in crops. One year the crops in the area got worm infested, except for the Christians. It was like God had drawn a line down the field. His were green and the neighbors were burnt out. His neighbor asked him, "Are your crops green because you believe in Jesus" and he said yes. Then the neighbor also became a Christian. It brought great favor to the church. He had had worms before and knew that when they got in, they killed everything. Not a crop was hurt by a worm on the Christians land, but the neighbors lost everything. Their fields were completely burnt out and they lost the whole harvest. "These Christians told me this themselves."
These four stories were told to me by a fellow Christian during my time spent in China. He had heard them from people who experienced the miracles first hand. (next page)
